The reality of children living in extreme poverty and on the street poses great chalenges. Angels had developed initiatives that provide a lifeline, help to restore self-esteem, provide hope and make the transition back into society and school life easier.
A simple and fun musical educational and feeding programme foccuses on the children's traditional musical culture whilst at the same time teaches phonics through song lyrics both in their native language and in English.
After these fun sessions we feed the children and, through out '3 Bag Full' programme, provide them with better clothes, the basics for keeping clean and much needed rudimentary educational equipment for school life. Together, these simple initiatives can have a profound and lastuing impact on their lives.
As a progression from our Educational and Feeding programes Angels has put on sell out tours, to the UK and Europe, from children's music and dance groups from Africa & beyond. The children we work with come from very disadvantaged backgrounds but through the power of music we aim to raise positive awareness for their plight and raise much needed funds for development projects in their home communities.
Following very succesful tours with children from Nigeria, South Africa and Rwanda, in 2012 we toured with 14 amazingly talented children from the Kuwinda slum, Nairobi. The tour included a mixture of performances and workshops at venues and schools across southern and south eastern England, including some collaborative perfromances with UK children. The profits from the tour helped to educate and support some 350 children in Kuwinda
